House Panel To Take Up CFPB Reform, Other Credit Union-Backed Bills

WASHINGTON--The House Financial Services Committee will mark up a series of bills this week, many of which would provide much-needed regulatory relief for credit unions. America’s Credit Unions wrote in support of several bills in a letter sent prior to the markup.

According to ACU, most significantly, it supports the CFPB Reform Act of 2026 (H.R. 10184), which would make vital, credit union-supported reforms to the CFPB, including:

America’s Credit Unions said it also encouraged the committee “to craft legislation that creates a five-person, bipartisan commission to lead the CFPB instead of a single director.”

The markup is scheduled to begin Wednesday, starting at 10 a.m. ET, and will be streamed live on the committee’s site.
