Sky Federal, On Tap Credit Union Plan Merger
By CU Today Staff —
LIVINGSTON, Mont. — Sky Federal Credit Union here and Golden, Colo.-based On Tap Credit Union have announced plans to merge, creating a credit union with approximately $671 million in assets, more than 32,000 members and eight locations across Montana and Colorado.
The credit unions said the combination is a merger of two financially healthy organizations serving separate geographic markets. No branch closures are planned. The combined organization expects the greater scale to support additional investments in digital banking, fraud prevention, cybersecurity, financial products and services, employee development and community programs.
“For more than 90 years, Sky Federal Credit Union has been focused on serving our communities and helping our members thrive,” said Dr. Daisy Romo, CEO of Sky Federal Credit Union. “As we looked toward Sky’s future, it was important that any partnership honor who we are, where we come from, and the relationships we have built throughout Montana. We found that same commitment to people and community at On Tap. This partnership gives us an opportunity to preserve what makes Sky special while building additional strength and resources for generations of members still to come.”
“This opportunity began with people and culture,” said Tracie Wilcox, president and CEO of On Tap Credit Union. “What stood out most wasn’t what made our organizations different, but how much felt familiar. We share deep roots in our communities, a commitment to our members, and a belief that relationships come first. That alignment gave us confidence that together we can create even more opportunities for the members, employees, and communities we serve.”
The proposed merger remains subject to regulatory approval and a vote by Sky Federal members.
