Chaffey FCU Partners With CU Student Choice On Private Student Lending

By CU Today Staff —

WASHINGTON— CU Student Choice, the leading provider of higher education financing solutions to credit unions, is partnering with $229-million Chaffey FCU, based in Upland, Calif., to bring a full suite of private student lending solutions to the credit union's members, the organization announced.

Chaffey FCU will offer education lines of credit for both undergraduate and graduate students, along with student loan refinancing to help borrowers better manage existing education debt.

"Partnering with Student Choice allows us to provide members with flexible options to help achieve their higher education goals,” said Diane Kotlewski, CEO of Chaffey FCU. "With significant changes to federal student loans this year – including the phasing out of Grad PLUS loans – we want our student members and their families to know we will help them light the way to those goals."

“CU Student Choice and credit unions like Chaffey have been meeting the need for affordable private education financing for nearly two decades,” said Scott Patterson, president and CEO of Student Choice. “Together, we're ensuring members have access to financing solutions that will help them responsibly manage college costs."

Student Choice enables credit unions of all sizes to make private education loans that are held on their own balance sheet. Since launching in 2008, the CUSO has helped 300+ partner credit unions disburse more than $5 billion in private education loans, assisting 135,000 families in the process, the organization said.
