Credit Union Leaders Launch Industry-Wide Initiative To Shape Next Decade
By CU Today Staff —
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--A coalition of credit union executives, consultants and industry media leaders has launched a new research initiative aimed at developing a long-term vision for the credit union movement based on input from industry stakeholders.
The initiative, called The Future of Credit Unions, is being facilitated by organizational design consultancy Better Organizations by Design (BOxD) and includes participation from executives representing credit unions, advisory firms and credit union-focused podcasts. Organizers have opened a survey seeking feedback from credit union executives, board members, advisors and researchers on priorities and challenges facing the industry over the next 10 years.
Michael Abraham, chief strategy officer at Great Lakes Credit Union and a member of the coalition, said the effort is intended to encourage broader collaboration across the movement.
"Credit unions will say they have aspirations to be bigger, but most of us haven't tried to do anything collectively to change the status quo," Abraham said. "We should be a lot more proud of what we have and who we can be."
Participants also will have the opportunity to join facilitated visioning sessions in small groups. According to organizers, contributors will receive the completed report and the underlying survey data once the project is finalized.
The coalition includes leaders from organizations such as Great Lakes Credit Union, Everwise Credit Union, Mission Fed Credit Union, First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union, 1st Advantage Credit Union and the Credit Union Women's Leadership Alliance, as well as hosts of the CU2.0, Credit Union Conversations and Banking on You podcasts.
Credit union leaders, advisors, consultants, and researchers can take the survey or book a visioning session. More on the project is available at boxd.us/future-of-credit-unions.
