McDowell Cornerstone Names Sarah Washburn CEO

MARION, N.C. — McDowell Cornerstone Credit Union has named Sarah Washburn its new CEO, bringing more than 15 years of financial-services experience to the $38.3-million credit union.

The appointment was announced by the credit union's board of directors and reported Thursday by the McDowell News.

Washburn is a lifelong McDowell County resident and previously worked for Wells Fargo. Her professional profile describes more than 15 years of banking experience, and McDowell Technical Community College records show she has served on the college foundation's board. The credit union's announcement said her priorities include maintaining personalized service and local decision-making while expanding financial-wellness opportunities and investing in employee development.

McDowell Cornerstone, founded in 1967 as Marion Manufacturing Credit Union, is a state-chartered community credit union serving people who live, work, worship or attend school in McDowell County.
