Westmark Credit Union Names Nielsen New President, CEO

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho—The $1.6-billion Westmark Credit Union has named Derik Nielsen as its new president and CEO, succeeding Mike Schenck, who served the credit union for more than 30 years, according to the Post Register.
Nielsen, whose tenure began July 27, has served on Westmark's board for nearly a decade, giving him experience with the credit union's mission, culture and long-term strategy. He also brings executive leadership experience in finance, operations, technology and strategic planning, the Post Register reported.
"After careful consideration, the board is excited to appoint Derik Nielsen to lead Westmark into its next chapter," Board Chair Steve Hammon said. "We have great confidence in his leadership and his ability to build on the strong foundation that has been established."
Nielsen takes over as Westmark continues to grow and pursue several initiatives, including its partnership with Boise State University, branch remodels and new exterior branding, enhancements to consumer and business banking products, and additional technology investments.
"My priority is to support our employees, continue delivering outstanding service to our members and build on the incredible momentum underway throughout the organization," Nielsen said.
