Fiserv CEO Lyons To Lead Truist; Georgakopoulos Named Successor

By CU Today Staff —

BROOKFIELD, Wis.—Payments and financial technology giant Fiserv announced a leadership change Monday as CEO Mike Lyons departed to become president and chief executive officer of Truist Financial, prompting Fiserv to immediately appoint Takis Georgakopoulos as its new CEO and a member of its board of directors, PYMNTS reported.

Lyons, who joined Fiserv in May 2025 after serving as president of PNC Financial Services Group, will assume the top role at Truist on Sept. 1. He succeeds Bill Rogers, who will become executive chair until his planned retirement in April 2027. Truist said Lyons brings more than three decades of leadership experience spanning multiple sectors of financial services.

Fiserv named Georgakopoulos, most recently co-president overseeing Technology and Merchant Solutions, as Lyons’ successor effective immediately. Before joining Fiserv in late 2024, Georgakopoulos served as global head of payments for JPMorgan Chase's Corporate and Investment Bank. Fiserv Chairman Gordon Nixon credited him with advancing modernization of the company's merchant platform and expanding the use of artificial intelligence across its operations, PYMNTS said.

“I’m proud of what the team has accomplished over the past year,” Lyons said in a statement. “I have great confidence in the company’s strong platform, talented leadership team and dedicated associates.”

Fiserv also reaffirmed its 2026 outlook, calling for organic revenue growth of 1% to 3% and adjusted earnings per share of $8.00 to $8.30, PYMNTS added.
