Hauptman Sworn In at PCAOB; Crews Now Set To Take NCUA Seat
By CU Today Staff —
WASHINGTON—Former NCUA Chairman Kyle Hauptman has officially moved on from the agency, taking the oath of office as a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board during a ceremony Monday at the Securities and Exchange Commission, the PCAOB said.
“I am pleased to welcome Kyle to the PCAOB,” PCAOB Chairman Demetrios (Jim) Logothetis said. “His deep expertise and extensive experience will be invaluable as we advance our efforts to modernize the PCAOB and strengthen its role as a durable regulator prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges of the next 25 years and beyond.”
Hauptman, who had remained at the NCUA beyond the expiration of his term while awaiting a successor, was appointed to the PCAOB by the SEC in January. His PCAOB term expires Oct. 24, 2029.
“I’m honored to join the PCAOB and look forward to working with my colleagues to strengthen the capital markets,” Hauptman said. “Of particular interest will be the technological changes that are transforming both the audit industry and the PCAOB itself.”
Hauptman’s departure clears the way for John Crews, who was confirmed by the Senate Aug. 7 to succeed him on the NCUA board. Crews must now take the oath of office before formally assuming his seat. His NCUA term runs through Aug. 2, 2031.
The next step after Crews is sworn in is expected to be his designation by President Trump as NCUA chairman, a move that does not require separate Senate confirmation.
