White Sands FCU Lands NMSU Arena Naming Rights In $13M Deal

LAS CRUCES, N.M.—White Sands Federal Credit Union will put its name on New Mexico State University’s basketball arena under a $13 million naming-rights agreement approved unanimously by the NMSU Board of Regents, KRQE reported.
The facility will become the “White Sands Federal Credit Union Arena at the Pan American Center.” The Las Cruces-based credit union will pay NMSU $1.3 million annually over 10 years, according to KRQE. Details on how all of the proceeds will be used have not yet been disclosed.
The $413-million White Sands FCU already has sponsorship arrangements with NMSU athletics. Athletic Director Joe Fields told KRQE the expanded partnership will provide needed capital for an athletic department that now includes 17 programs and about 400 student-athletes.
Fields said the agreement is in line with naming-rights deals being struck elsewhere in college athletics. Earlier this year, the University of New Mexico reached a 10-year, nearly $17.5 million agreement with Nusenda Credit Union that renamed its basketball venue “The Pit, Powered by Nusenda,” KRQE reported.
