PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Longtime Rhode Island Credit Union President and CEO David Suvall will retire July 1 after 45 years with the organization, with the credit union’s board naming Executive Vice President and COO Nancy Zeppa as his successor, Go Local Prov reported.

Rhode Island Credit Union said the leadership transition comes as the institution has grown to approximately $425 million in assets, nearly 30,000 members and six branches statewide.

Suvall joined Rhode Island Credit Union in 1981 as vice president and controller and became president and CEO in 2006. During his tenure, the credit union expanded its footprint across Rhode Island while growing membership and assets. In announcing his retirement, Suvall said he has “full confidence” in the organization’s leadership team and Zeppa’s ability to lead the credit union forward, Go Local Prov reported.

Zeppa, who has been with Rhode Island Credit Union since 1977, will assume the CEO role on July 1. The credit union said she has led numerous strategic initiatives during her nearly five decades with the organization, including core system conversions, a merger, lending and digital banking platform upgrades, and the development of new branch locations.
