Suspect Arrested Minutes After Robbery At Beginnings Credit Union

ITHACA, N.Y.—A man was arrested within minutes after allegedly robbing Beginnings Credit Union's Meadow Street branch Monday morning, following a rapid response by Ithaca police after an employee activated a panic alarm, The Ithaca Voice reported.
Police said officers responded to the credit union at about 9:10 a.m. after receiving the alarm. According to the Ithaca Police Department, the suspect, identified as Terrance J. Julian, 56, of Ithaca, fled the scene in a vehicle driven by an individual who was reportedly unaware a robbery had occurred. Officers located the vehicle on East Green Street, conducted a high-risk traffic stop and took Julian into custody without incident.
Authorities charged Julian with third-degree robbery, a Class D felony under New York law that applies when a person forcibly steals property without using a weapon. Police did not disclose how much money, if any, was taken during the robbery. Julian was awaiting arraignment in Ithaca City Court, The Ithaca Voice said.
The credit union's Meadow Street branch remained closed late Monday morning as the investigation continued. Police have not released additional details about the robbery or whether anyone inside the branch was injured, the Ithaca Voice added.
