Mortgage Rates Rise To 6.76%

MCLEAN, Va.—Mortgage rates moved higher this week, with the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rising to 6.76%, according to Freddie Mac's latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey.
The 30-year rate increased from 6.71% a week earlier and was also above the 6.35% average recorded a year ago. The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.09%, up from 6.04% last week and 5.50% a year earlier.
The latest increase extends the recent move higher in borrowing costs and comes as mortgage rates remain well above year-ago levels for both 30- and 15-year loans.
