DCUC Reaffirms Support Of John Crews Nomination To NCUA Board

WASHINGTON—The Defense Credit Union Council Wednesday reaffirmed its support for the nomination of John Crews to serve on the NCUA board, encouraging the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee to advance his nomination following its July 23 executive session.
“Strong NCUA leadership impacts more than credit unions; it impacts the millions of Americans who rely on these institutions for affordable financial services, trusted guidance, and economic opportunity,” reminded Anthony Hernandez, DCUC president/CEO, ret. U.S. Air Force colonel. “For military families, veterans, and communities across the country, a strong and stable credit union system is essential to financial readiness and resilience. Leaders who understand the cooperative model and the diverse needs of credit unions help ensure these institutions can continue delivering that important mission.”
Crews brings nearly 15 years of financial policy experience, including extensive work with the Senate Banking Committee on major financial services legislation. Following his nomination hearing, DCUC noted his demonstrated understanding of the NCUA’s role in protecting the stability of the credit union system while applying effective, risk-based supervision.
DCUC highlighted several priorities reflected in Crews’ testimony, including:
