Keesler FCU Puts Another $1 Million Toward Members' Debt—This Time Targeting Car Payments
By CU Today Staff —
BILOXI, Miss.—After wiping out millions in members' credit card debt earlier this year, Keesler Federal Credit Union is turning its attention to another major household expense: auto loans.
The $4.2-billion credit union has launched the second phase of its $1 Million Live Your Way Debt Eraser program, giving eligible members a chance to receive the cash equivalent of six months of car payments, up to $3,000 each.
The campaign is open to members with existing Keesler Federal auto loans in good standing who register online during July. More than 330 winners will be randomly selected during the first week of August, with the credit union awarding a total of $1 million. Winners will be notified Aug. 7.
The latest giveaway follows Keesler Federal's inaugural Debt Eraser campaign in March, which distributed up to $4,000 per winner to help reduce or eliminate credit card balances. After that promotion, the credit union surveyed members to determine where they wanted the next round of financial assistance directed, with auto loan payments emerging as the top choice.
“For most folks, car notes are their second biggest household expense after paying rent or making mortgage payments,” Board Chairman James Hollingsworth said. “We listened to our members and answered them with this second million-dollar giveback aimed at reducing auto loan debt.”
The auto loan promotion is the second in a series of member giveback programs planned for 2026.
“At Keesler Federal, our mission is to make meaningful, positive impacts in our members’ lives,” Hollingsworth said. “The Debt Eraser campaign is one more way we’re giving back to our members and helping them move toward greater financial freedom, so that they can live their way.”
