Rep. Gonzalez, Rally CU Focus On Rising Fraud, AI Scams

CORPUS CHRISTIE, Texas--Connecting with a key credit union supporter back in his home district, Rally Credit Union hosted Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) at its Naval Air Station Corpus Christi branch last week. America’s Credit Unions and the Cornerstone League also took part in the meeting, ACU reported.
Gonzalez took part in a discussion with attendees about the prevalence of fraud, especially fraud targeting the elderly. Credit unions and the congressman addressed how they can work together to inform consumers about the increase in scams, particularly those using artificial intelligence.
Gonzalez also spoke to local news station KIIITV while at the branch on the importance of supporting the military.
He has sponsored bills in the current 119th Congress to allow increased credit union access to the Federal Home Loan Bank system, provide business lending flexibility, and increase lending to veteran-owned businesses.
