Tennessee, Mississippi Credit Union Groups Unveil New Name
By CU Today Staff —
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The newly merged Tennessee and Mississippi credit union trade associations have unveiled a new name, AnchorPoint Credit Union Association, creating a unified advocacy organization representing more than 175 credit unions serving 3.5 million members across the two states.
The Tennessee Credit Union League, founded in 1934, and Mississippi Credit Union Association, established in 1937, formed a strategic alliance in 2023. Mississippi credit unions voted in December 2025 to merge with the Tennessee league, with the combined organization beginning operations Jan. 1, 2026. AnchorPoint is the nation's ninth-largest credit union league by number of credit unions represented.
“The financial services landscape is shifting faster than ever, from regulatory changes to digital transformation,” said Fred Robinson, AnchorPoint's president and CEO. “AnchorPoint reflects our core promise to our members—to be a stronger voice for credit unions.”
Charles Elliott serves as ex officio president, while an 18-member board includes nine representatives from each state.
The new name is intended to convey stability and direction amid regulatory and economic changes. AnchorPoint will retain separate Tennessee Credit Unions and Mississippi Credit Unions identities for state-specific advocacy and events. Existing services, staff contacts and governance structures will remain unchanged during the transition, the league stated.
