Anthropic, Accenture Commit $2B To Embedded AI Safety Effort

By CU Today Staff —

SAN FRANCISCO--Anthropic and Accenture are each expected to commit at least $1 billion over the next five years to a new partnership aimed at expanding AI safety testing, including embedding evaluation teams within the Claude developer, according to GlobalData.

The collaboration will have Accenture, through its acquired AI subsidiary Faculty, work alongside Anthropic employees and other safety partners to evaluate and “red-team” advanced AI models, conduct alignment assessments and test existing safeguards. The companies said embedded evaluators would have access similar to employees, allowing them to monitor how models are trained and deployed and assess internal safety processes.

“Faculty, which is now part of Accenture, was founded on the belief that AI should be safe by design, not safe by accident," said Accenture Chief Technology Officer and Faculty CEO Marc Warner. "That conviction has guided our work with governments, defense, and healthcare systems across the world. Joining forces with Anthropic as embedded evaluators is exactly the kind of work Faculty was built to do—and as part of Accenture, we have the platform to do it at a scale that can genuinely move the industry.”

Anthropic will directly fund Accenture’s participation during the initial phase, while exploring partnerships with other evaluators and nonprofit organizations, GlobalData reported. The arrangement is non-exclusive, and both companies expect to work with additional partners as the emerging field of embedded AI evaluation develops.
