Small CUs Put Fraud Fight At Top Of Advocacy Agenda
By CU Today Staff —
WASHINGTON--As credit unions nationwide face the growing problem of fraud, America’s Credit Unions Small Credit Union Advocacy Advisory Panel met Thursday to further address the issue from the small credit union perspective, ACU reported.
Following a recent survey of group members indicating that fraud is the top priority for members, much of the discussion focused on ways to better fight fraud and scams.
Members of the advocacy team shared the latest on policy solutions and actions, which includes support for the following bills:
The House Financial Services Committee cleared H.R. 9331 in June, and H.R. 4936 this week. Both passed with a unanimous vote.
Advisory panel members who attended the Congressional Caucus this week shared their conversations with elected officials, including encouraging continued movement of both bills, and discussing other solutions to equip credit unions to protect members, ACU added.
