WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) proudly announces that its 2026 Conference with a Purpose fundraiser raised $25,000 in support of the United Service Organizations (USO), continuing a longstanding tradition of giving back to organizations that serve the military and veteran communities. With this year’s contribution, DCUC’s Conference with a Purpose has now raised $548,000 since the fundraising tradition began in 2003.
“Our Conference with a Purpose reflects an important part of DCUC’s longstanding mission and the unwavering commitment of defense credit unions to serving all who serve,” says Anthony Hernandez, DCUC President/CEO, Ret. U.S. Air Force Colonel. “Each year, credit unions from across the United States and around the world come together at our Annual Conference to advance the conversations shaping our service impact, while also reaffirming our shared dedication to military and veteran communities. We are deeply grateful to our members, sponsors, and attendees whose generosity made this year’s contribution to the USO possible.” Held alongside DCUC’s Annual Conference, this year’s fundraising efforts included an online silent auction, the popular 50/50 drawing, and mulligan and gimme string sales during DCUC’s Annual VADM Vincent Lascara Golf Tournament. Conference attendees also took part in a special “Giveback for the USO” event, sponsored by Visa, where participants assembled care packages for the USO to distribute to U.S. service members. The hands-on service project offered attendees a meaningful opportunity to connect while directly supporting the men and women who serve. The USO was selected as this year’s Conference with a Purpose beneficiary in recognition of its enduring role in strengthening the well-being of America’s service members and their families. Since 1941, the USO has provided connection, comfort, and support to America’s service members and their families throughout every stage of military service. From the moment they join, through deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO helps ensure those who serve our country are never alone. Through USO centers around the world, airport hospitality programs, tours, and specialized services, the organization continues to stand beside our military community wherever duty takes them.
