Bank Of America VP Killed In Random Times Square Stabbing

NEW YORK—A Bank of America vice president was killed Monday afternoon in what police described as a “random and unprovoked” stabbing in Times Square. Erin Piacenti, 32, was attacked near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue and later died at a hospital, according to Reuters.
Piacenti was a vice president on Bank of America’s Business Selection and Conflicts team within its corporate and investment bank and had joined the company about 18 months earlier, Business Insider reported.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” the bank said. “She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones.”
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the alleged attacker, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens, pulled two knives from a shopping bag and stabbed a 68-year-old man in the abdomen before stabbing Piacenti about 20 seconds later. The man was hospitalized in stable condition.
Officers confronted Cisneros and used Tasers after she refused orders to drop the knives, police said. Officers fatally shot her when she advanced toward them, and the NYPD Force Investigation Division is reviewing the shooting. Police said Cisneros had no arrest record but had a documented history of mental illness and prior encounters with officers, according to The Guardian.
