Velera Welcomes Inaugural Credit Union And Industry Partner Cohort To Digital Asset Lab

By CU Today Staff —

TAMPA-- Velera Tuesday announced the inaugural cohort of credit unions and industry partners participating in its Digital Asset Lab, a collaborative initiative designed to help the credit union industry evaluate, test and advance stablecoin and other digital asset opportunities.

Launched in August 2025, Velera’s Digital Asset Lab brings together credit unions, technology providers and industry stakeholders to facilitate engagement and collaboration, provide education and thought leadership, build infrastructure and form strategic partnerships around stablecoin and digital asset exploration. It is designed to address needs like distributed ledger infrastructure and connectivity, blockchain networks, core banking integrations and more.

Since the Digital Asset Lab’s formation, Velera has conducted extensive research and analysis of the emerging digital asset ecosystem, evaluating regulatory developments, technology maturity, operational considerations and credit‑union‑specific use cases. Through this work, the organization has methodically assessed potential partners and solution providers, leading to this next phase of strategic collaboration, Velera explained.

“As new forms of digital money and payment infrastructure continue to evolve, credit unions must be equipped to assess what is relevant, what is viable and what will truly benefit their members,” said Nathan Meyer, senior innovation strategist, Velera. “This inaugural cohort gives the industry an opportunity to learn together, test responsibly and help define a credit union-led path forward for digital assets.”

Velera credit unions joining the Digital Asset Lab include:

Together, these credit unions will work alongside solution providers to evaluate platforms and business models that foster industry collaboration and expand access to innovative technology. Participating solution providers include:

The cohort will initially focus on research, education and evaluation of stablecoins and tokenized deposits, including the infrastructure, risk, compliance, interoperability and member-experience considerations required to support future credit union use cases. Insights from the group will help guide potential proofs of concept and pilot programs as Velera explores opportunities to bring innovative digital asset solutions to credit unions at scale.

The Digital Asset Lab is powered by the Innovation team within Velera’s Emerging Services department. To learn more, visit velera.com/emerging-services or email digital-asset-lab@velera.com.
